Are you eager to get back to 2XKO? Did you miss it the first time and want to try it fresh and eager? Well, there is good news! According to an official post from 2XKO game director Shaun Rivera, the team aims to conduct a second Alpha Lab test in spring 2025.
In this post, which you can read in its entirety right now on Twitter, Rivera states that this playtest will be available in more regions than the first, which should be good news for those who weren’t able to participate initially. Additionally, it will involve several key changes. This includes Jinx, who was given her own gameplay trailer today, as well as gameplay modifications including improved controls and reduced downtime.
This is obviously good news. While 2XKO’s Alpha Lab test was a success (as Rivera’s post indicates), players left the experience with some feedback for the game. And, with the game absent from the 2024 World Cup, we haven’t had a chance to see if those comments have been implemented. It looks like our first real chance to find out will come early next year. It’s also worth noting that if you had access to the first Alpha Lab test, you don’t need to register for the next one.
With the game slated for a vague 2025 release date, this long-awaited Alpha Lab test also makes me wonder how big the overall 2XKO package will be at launch. With Jinx, that makes seven in total. At the rate they are being revealed and added to the game, what character total will 2XKO reach in 1.0?
My bet is 10. You want an even number of characters for a 2v2 fighter, and at the rate we’re seeing them, the 10th reveal should arrive sometime in the second half of next year. Or I’m totally wrong and team 2XKO beats it. That’s the good thing about this bet, even if I lose, I’m smiling. More characters would be exuberant.
