Rangers to face Fenerbahce in the Europa League the last 16


The former manager of Chelsea, Man Utd and Tottenham Hotspur, Mourinho, took care of Fenerbahce in June last year, five months after leaving Rome.

The 62 -year -old team ended three points behind Galatasaray at the end of their first Super Lig campaign and are currently drifting from the reigning champions this season.

After losing to Lille in the third classification round of the Champions League, Fenerbahce finished 24th in the Europa League League phase, 16 places under the Rangers.

Serbia’s midfielder, Dusan Tadic, also a veteran at 36, had a successful spell with Southampton, while 31 -year -old midfielder Fred was with Man Utd.

Also in the books of Fenerbahce are former Blackpool and Queens Park Rangers Bright Osayi-Samuel and Türkiye and former Everton Cenk Tosun striker.

Diego Carlos signed Aston Villa in January, the former Newcastle United Allan Saint-Maximin lent Al-Ahli, while Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is borrowed by Fiorentina after a spell last season with Man Utd.

Despite starting his management career in a Coaching course by Fa Scottish, Mourinho has never handled a team in competitive actions in Scotland.

However, Fenerbahce has played the Scottish opposition twice before, drawing with Celtic Home and far in the group stage of the Europa League in 2015 and beat the Rangers 2-1 in the aggregate in the third round of classification of the league of champions in 2001.
