“We were, with much, the worst I’ve seen in all the time I’ve been here,” said Clement. “I did not see this to come: this nervousness, all under the couple almost the whole game.
“We were not what we should be the Rangers. I saw the team drifting in the islands. That has not been the case in the past. First, it is my responsibility.”
When asked if he would understand if the Board had the decision to make its future, Clement replied: “I am not busy with those questions or things.
“I am busy finding solutions to recover the rangers at the level they should be. I don’t like hypothetical questions.”
Perhaps more alarming for the Rangers was the manager of St Mirren, Stephen Robinson, said his team “did not feel under any pressure and could probably have had more objectives.”
This was a St Mirren team that had a victory in the league in seven since he beat the Rangers in Paisley on boxing day.
The fact that Ibrox was empty three quarters before the full -time whistle told their own story and those who remained were vowels in their conviction.
“Everyone saw that the team was nervous today,” Clement added. “Was they wanted to do too well, react and give fans much more?
“We need to look at the root of the problem and talk to the team about that. In the end, it is my responsibility to get them with the right mentality in the field.
“I can only say sorry and apologize [to the Rangers fans] of me and the team. This is not what the rangers teams need to show in the field. We all know that this was well below the standards that we all expect.
“I am always fighting until the end. My task is to put the team in the right mentality. That was not the case today. I need to find a solution for that.”
