QB Dillon Gabriel points to success as height questions grow

Gabriel, listed in 5 feet 11 inches, is looking to join Kyler Murray, Bryce Young and Russell Wilson among the only titular Quarterbacks that are less than 6 feet high.

“I have had the greatest experience, as you can imagine, starting at high school as a first -year student until my last year in the university team, and then I have done the same at the university,” Gabriel said at the NFL Scouting Combine on Friday. “I am a leader. I am a winner. I have won in all three places and I have done it in big games.”

Gabriel was a finalist of the Heisman trophy. Young and Murray won the prize in their last seasons. Having spent six seasons at the university with stops at UCF, Oklahoma and Oregon, Gabriel said he feels he has learned a lot about football. But he added that he is still learning.

The ESPN NFL Draft analyst Jordan Reid has Gabriel as his fourth field marshal and projects that it is a selection of day 2. Gabriel met with multiple teams, especially the Raiders of Las Vegas and the Dallas Cowboys.

“I want the teams to believe that I can go out and win games,” Gabriel said. “If a team wants a winner, a franchise leader, he knows who to call.”
