Edwards is from Croydon, but Chelsea was the only team for him as a child.
“My father supported them and I was born and raised to be blue,” he told BBC Sport. “When I was a kid, from my comforter to my wallpaper, everything in my room was always Chelsea.
“I had several favorite players over the years, starting with Dennis Wise. Then there were players like Arjen Robben and Eden Hazard, and Didier Drogba is also an absolute legend.
“When I was a child, I really liked it and felt the pressure when we played important matches and I had to go to school the next day. I remember crying when we lost the Champions League final against Manchester United in 2008.
“I still follow them and try to catch a match here and there, but there are only so many weekends in a year and boxing takes up a lot of them now.
“We’re not at the level we were at when I was a kid, but it’s already been a much better season than last year.
“I really think Cole Palmer is the best player in the Premier League at the moment. I was there when he made his first start for us, against Brighton in the Carabao Cup last year, and he stood out by a long shot.
“He was shouting at Gareth Southgate to get him on the pitch for England at Euro 2024, and then every time he played he said ‘look, look, look at the magic!'”
Edwards has been training in the West Midlands before facing Yafai at the Resorts World Arena, and also has a soft spot for a local team.
“I want to congratulate North Solihull Athletic, who play just around the corner,” he added. “The manager, Bradley White, is a good friend of mine and some of the guys will be at the show.
“They are the kings of the comeback. Bradley has taken charge of a team that seemed like it was going nowhere and has just won eight games in a row.
“I don’t play much football anymore, but I’m at EA Sports FC a lot. I’ve made 250 appearances, all at this training ground.
