Pre-orders for Analogue 3-d, a reinvention of the N64, detectable at the time

Former console maker Analogue will be taking pre-orders for its Nintendo 64 “reinvention” that same day.

Unveiled in October and released in this lifetime, Analogue 3-D is an N64-like console that connects to modern HD TVs and plays N64 games in 4K resolution.

It is said to be compatible with every traditional N64 game ever made, accepts cartridges from all regions, and includes four original-style controller ports.

Available in black or white, the console is priced at $249.99, and controllers designed through 8bitdo are available back-to-back for $39.99.

Pre-orders will be available on October 21 at 8am PDT.

Analogue CEO Christopher Taber has claimed it will do business in a much better way than N64 emulation on Nintendo’s Transfer Online service.

The N64, initially called Project Truth and later Ultra 64, was released in Japan in June 1996, before arriving in the Northern United States in September 1996 and Europe in March 1997.

The console used to be notable as Nintendo’s first proper foray into polygonal graphics, although its Super FX chip had spawned a handful of polygonal games on the SNES.

It is also remembered for being one of the first to incorporate an analog controller as always, and one of the first to incorporate four controller ports considering four-player multiplayer without the benefit of a peripheral.
