Pokémon Go kicks off 2025 with a Community Day in January for the grass cat creature Sprigatito and a price increase for the monthly event’s regular optional ticket.

To compensate for the ticket now doubling in price, a single Premium Battle Pass is added to the included rewards. Individually, these in-game items cost £1, which makes up the difference, but Battle Passes are also always available at better prices, with discounted bundles, and two free passes are being offered each day during the current season anyway. of the game.
The full list of other rewards available on the renewed ticket has yet to be determined, and will only be discovered after the first players purchase the ticket and find out for themselves when the January Community Day event begins in the zones. Australia Pacific time.
Pokémon Go Community Day is a monthly event where a creature is highlighted and made widely available for everyone to capture, usually for the first time, in its coveted Shiny form. It is a very popular recurring event in the game and is considered by players to be the usual day of each month to meet other players.
But recent months have also seen the end of the usual Community Day ticket mini-stories, with Pokémon Go’s handsome Professor Willow appearing beforehand to tell players about each featured Pokémon. Fans have lamented the removal of these stories as a further loss of value from the overall ticket price.
Finally, it’s worth noting that the monthly ticket is no longer given for free to players who sign up for local events through a Niantic-approved community ambassador.
There have also been other changes to the Community Day gameplay. Monthly events no longer include raids after the three-hour event period expires in order to extend the event longer, a compromise added after the extended six-hour duration of the Community Day lockdown era returned to its original length of three hours, something that sparked somewhat of a backlash among fans.
However, a new Community Day feature has been added: a timed research that rewards a week of more encounters with Community Day Pokémon with a seasonal background, if you continue to log in and play each day for the following week. .
Community Day events began in January 2018 and have been held every month (except March 2020) since then. Eurogamer’s Community Day guide has the full list if you ever want to see what you missed.
