Ghost of Tsushima Legends is receiving an anime adaptation.
Announced at CES, the adaptation will be a co-production between Aniplex and Crunchyroll.
Takanobu Mizuno (Star Wars: Visions “The Duel”) will direct the series under Kamikaze Douga, with Gen Urobuchi writing the story composition. The anime will be produced in collaboration with Aniplex, with Sony Music as the music and soundtrack partner.
The series will debut in 2027.
Ghost of Tsushima Legends was a DLC expansion that allowed players to team up with friends for cooperative missions, something that was missing from the base game.
A sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei, was announced last year.
Ghost of Yotei is scheduled for release in 2025.
In an article on the PlayStation Blog, Sucker Punch communications director Andrew Goldfarb said the game provided “a new protagonist, a new story to develop, and a new region of Japan to explore.”
“While we haven’t delved into the specific details of the story yet, we can reveal that Atsu’s journey takes place in 1603, more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima,” he wrote.
“Our story takes place in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, a towering peak in the heart of Ezo, an area of Japan now known as Hokkaido.
A Ghost of Tsushima movie is currently in the works and will be directed by Chad Stahelski (John Wick: Chapter 4).
