Nintendo Switch 2 upgrades revealed by FCC: Amiibo, faster Wi-Fi, and more

New technical updates of Nintendo Switch 2 have been revealed, through presentations made by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The presentations reveal that Switch 2, as its predecessor, will admit NFC through its correct Joy-Con controller, probably confirm the support for Amiibo figures when playing original Switch and Switch 2 software games.

Switch 2 users can also load the console using its lower USB C port or the new new USB port that is located at the top of the device.

According to the presentations, which were detected by the Verge, Switch 2 will also admit Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) networks with up to 80MHz bandwidth, above the Wi-Fi 5 (802.11AC) of the original switching console.

FCC presentations also indicate that Nintendo Switch 2 is classified for a CA adapter with a maximum of 15 V, which is the same as the original switch, but also mentions a CA adapter that rises to 20V, so it is not clear if Switch 2 has a faster or more power speed when attached.

A previous leak had stated that Switch 2 Dock would require a much more powerful CA adapter than its predecessor, indicating that it can have more power when coupled.

Nintendo officially announced Switch 2 in January, with a teaser video that shows the console and joy-cons. The trailer also provided a brief look at a new Mario Kart game that runs in the Switch 2 hardware.

Nintendo plans to completely reveal the new console on April 2, during a direct presentation Special Switch 2 Nintendo.

The company’s president, Shutaro Furukawa, said last month that the Switch 2 price will take into account numerous factors, including the affordability of the registered trademark of the company’s hardware.

He also said that Nintendo will establish measures to prevent resellers from significantly affecting Switch 2 launch supplies.

He said (through Nikkei, translated by VGC): “We will take all possible measures based on the experience that we have accumulated to date (with respect to the resellers and the like). We are making preparations. “

The Circan Market Research firm has predicted that Nintendo Switch 2 will sell more than four million units only in the United States in 2025, if it is launched in the first half of the year, which represents approximately 1/3 of all the hardware units of video game console sold this year.
