Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders delayed in the US over Trump’s tariffs

The anticipated orders of Nintendo Switch 2 will not continue on April 9, 2025 in the United States as originally planned due to the situation in evolution of ‘reciprocal’ rates of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, on imported goods. The launch date of the June 5 console has not changed.

As confirmed by IGN, Nintendo has sent a press release to numerous points of sale confirming the postponement. “Advance orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the US.

“Nintendo will update time at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 does not change.”

The tariffs were announced shortly after the last live Nintendo Direct broadcast on April 2, which confirmed a launch price of the United States of $ 450. Nintendo manufactures switch 2 in countries led by tariffs, such as Vietnam, which created speculations about whether the initial price factorized in some potential impact.

Nintendo, then, made the price decision before the total scope of the impact of tariffs was known.

Several analysts spoke with Gamesindustry.biz Before this last announcement, suggest that the broader impact of tariffs on the American games and consumers in general have not yet understood completely.

Meanwhile, early orders will officially begin in Europe on April 8. We will update you when there are more details available in Nintendo.
