Negative, Ultimate Myth composer Nobuo Uematsu is not retiring from online game song

Mythical Ultimate Myth composer Nobuo Uematsu is not retiring from painting video game songs, despite rumors.

The uncertainty seems to have arisen after a promotional video for the cut of Fantasian: Neo Field, the role-playing game by the author of Ultimate Myth, Hironobu Sakaguchi, for which Uematsu composed the classification.

“This is my final project as a video game music composer,” he mentioned. “I hope you pick it up and play it! Thank you for your support!”

Fans assumed that this supposed Uematsu was retiring, but he has since proven that this may be a false impression.

“Wait, wait, wait! Everyone calm down!” he wrote. “There seems to be a false impression, but I will no longer retire from online game music painting!

“I’m going to scale back my video game music work a bit because I want to have more time to make the music I want to make. It would be difficult for me to take on the entire soundtrack for a video game because the time commitment to compose would be too long, but I I would like to continue working on works such as a musical theme.

This is in line with Uematsu’s previous comments from the past at this time.

“As far as Final Fantasy goes, I’m still involved in writing the games’ main themes,” he mentioned again in February. “But I don’t think I’ll ever compose a song for an entire game again.

“You would have to work hard for two or three years. And I don’t think I have the physical or mental strength to do it anymore.”

Then, in April, he showed that he would back down on Ultimate Myth’s request to write a new theme song for the third part of the Ultimate Myth 7 Remake trilogy.

Rebirth’s clever director Tetsuya Nomura asked Uematsu, “Would I like to think you’re a lock for the next title?”

Uematsu responded, “I would be honored. I am truly honored that you would even extend the offer.”

Uematsu composed the scores for Ultimate Myth 1 – 9 and has contributed to many games since then, either with co-composers or providing individual songs.

However, his focal point now is his band Uematsu Nobuo conTIKI, as is clear from the social post above.

Fantasian: Neo Box will be immune on December 5 on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Form X/S and PC (Steam).

It’s a cult vintage RPG that’s now been released from Apple Arcade, although it loses touch during the transition, as I wrote in our Eurogamer Fantasian: Neo Field preview.
