Disclaimer: Dark Ops 6 is launching in just over a month, but it won’t open in Kuwait.
In a comment shared with Eurogamer, Activison said that the Title of Responsibility had currently “not been approved for publication” in the country.
“At this time, the title will not be available for release in the region. As a result, all pre-orders in Kuwait will be canceled and refunded to the original point of purchase,” Activision informed us. “We are hopeful that local authorities will reconsider and allow players in Kuwait to enjoy this new experience in the Black Ops series.”
Although Activision didn’t go into further detail about why Dark Ops 6 wasn’t licensed for the market in Kuwait, it’s fair to assume that the game’s Gulf War issues are a key factor in this decision. Iraq invaded Kuwait in the early 1990s, precipitating the start of the first Gulf War.
Name of Responsibility: Dark Ops 6 is set to launch around this time, on October 25th. When it arrives, it will also be available on Game Move through the operator’s Terminating and PC Game Move club tiers. This will likely mark a major milestone for Microsoft, which bought Activision, maker of Name of Accountability, until October, the closest to two years of criminal transactions and negotiations.
