Mexico coach Javier Aguirre, bloodied by a thrown can after the loss to Honduras in the Concacaf Nations League.
It was quite an eventful night for the Mexican team in Honduras on Friday, as they lost 2-0 to Honduras in the first leg of the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals. But not only did El Tri fall, at the end of the game coach Javier Aguirre suffered an injury after apparently hitting the head with a beer can.

As the match neared the final, a can appeared to hit the Mexico coach’s head and he began vomiting blood. This could result in a fine for Honduras and a possible ban from entering the stadium for the fan who threw it. It’s an unfortunate development for what should have been a good night for Honduras with a historic victory.

After coming off the bench, Celtic player Luis Palma scored a double to give Honduras a 2-0 victory in
Concacaf Nations League move that could send them to the semifinals. They will still have to see their 2-0 lead in a trip to Mexico on Tuesday at the Estadio Nemesio Diez in Toluca, Mexico.

El Tri have struggled since the Copa América, but at the very least they are expected to face the United States in the Concacaf Nations League final and anything less would be a disappointment. There is still time to reverse this result with a return trip to Mexico, but trailing by two goals, they will want to make sure they get off to a quick start in the match.
