Following on from his previous successes, Robins confirmed he would not attempt to replicate the model he introduced during his time as Coventry boss.
“Each club is unique,” he said. “What you can’t do is [say]”I did this there” and “I’m going to repeat that there”, because they are two totally different cities, different clubs, different environments, different stages of development; In that sense, it’s totally different.”
He added: “I’m very confident that, over time, we can turn this around and move forward. “That’s my skills and that’s why I’m at Stoke City.
“Having lost my job on November 7, I needed that period of time to get it out of my system because I was totally in Coventry and now I’m totally somewhere else.
“I’m totally committed and I really want to get to work; I really want to move this forward.”
As he looks to the future, Robins also highlighted the importance of understanding the identity and culture of a club that still holds fond memories of a decade of Premier League football between 2008 and 2018.
“This is a club that aspires to reach the Premier League. Ultimately, we have to understand the club and move it forward. That is my task.
“We need everyone to be aligned. The motto of this club is ‘A united force is stronger’; it has never been more true.”
