Life is Strange: Double Exposure was a “large loss” for Square Enix – report

The last game of Life Is Strange did not work well for the editor Square Enix, has claimed.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure, who launched the autumn last autumn to a mixed fans, resulted in “great losses” for the company, said Kabutan analyst Hideki Yasuda (thanks, Remote/Thegamer).

Officially, Square Enix has not yet commented on the performance of the double exposure, and it has not been said about double exposure sales figures at all. Deck Nine, the game developer, previously announced layoffs in the studio following the game‘s release, and it is not clear what follows for the franchise, despite the fact that the double exhibition ends with a message indicating that the protagonist Max Caulfield “would return”.

Eurogamer’s life is strange: double exposure in video exposure.

Last week, Square Enix issued its most recent financial results, which focus largely on sales of the new version of Dragon Quest 3 HD -2D and the successful release of Final Fantasy 14 Expansion Dawntrail.

Perhaps revealing, there is no warning of how life is strange: the double exposure sold. On the other hand, Square Enix simply says that the income of their HD games division had fallen due to the fact that the “new new titles generated lower sales” than Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster and Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince during the same period during the previous year.

Square Enix does not indicate what were the new titles that had a lower performance, but he says that the launch of Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D helped compensate for these losses, since he had had a better performance than he initially expected.

Eurogamer has contacted Yasuda and Square Enix for more details. The company has not yet published a transcription of financial information that includes shareholders’ questions.

Life is strange: the double exhibition was launched in the midst of an important reaction of the fans annoyed by how the game managed the current history of the return protagonist Max Cauldield, and the impact of the choice of players at the beginning of life is strange 1.

The situation became uglier when Square Enix eliminated the filtered development material of a popular life is a strange Reddit fan, including the publications of several anonymous commentators who provided evidence that they worked in the Deck Nine, and that made a series of statements about how the history of Double Exposure had changed through development, formed by the comments of Square Enix. In response, Square Enix said he had acted to eliminate the content based on the “appropriate legal requirements” for “intellectual property violations.”

“Like his own hero with the trip in time, life is strange: the double exhibition highlights the problems of trying to review the old memories, while asking questions without response about the future,” I wrote in Eurogamer’s life is strange: double exposure review.
