New Orleans – The Saints published veteran runner Jamaal Williams on Tuesday.
The launch is the first important movement of the low season for the Saints, which have to eliminate at least $ 40 million to meet the salary limit before the start of the new year of the League on March 12.
The Saints will save $ 1.59 million against the limit with the launch of Williams and absorb $ 2.34 million in dead money.
Williams signed a three -year contract in 2023 worth an average of $ 4 million a year and a total of $ 8 million guaranteed. At the time of his firm, Williams left a better race season with the Detroit Lions in which he led the League with 17 Touchdowns by land.
Williams, 29, was never close to those numbers in his two seasons in New Orleans. He hastened to a combined 470 yards and two touchdowns, and became expendable after Alvin Kamara signed an extension last fall.
This is the second movement of the low season of the Saints to meet the limit. The first occurred in early January, when they reworked the right Tackle contract Ryan Ramczyk, who is expected to withdraw this low season due to knee problems.
