New York-Lamelo Ball was lost the second half of Charlotte’s 97-89 defeat against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night due to the right pain of ankle.
Ball, who has fought against the frequent ankle problems and recently returned from a sprain on the left, played the first 10 minutes of the first quarter and sat the second. The Hornets announced in the half time that it would not return.
Ball said he modified the ankle and did not think it was serious. Neither coach Charles Lee knew if the shipowner would play on Wednesday in Orlando in the final game of the Hornets before the All-Star recess.
“It’s always a frustration every time you go out,” said Ball. “Obviously you just want to play, but you have to do the best and do everything stronger and go from there.”
The Hornets fell the five games that was lost from January 29 to February 5 and are 1-16 in the games that has been lost this season. He returned to score 24 points in a victory over San Antonio on Friday, but stayed out on Sunday in Detroit due to what the Hornets said there was an ankle pain.
Ball had five points and three assists on Monday. He is averaging 28 points, but 17 games have been lost this season, with Charlotte losing 16 of them.
