The UFL has replaced a second chief coach, since it makes the final preparations to open its regular season.
The League announced Monday that Memphis ShowBoats coach Ken Whisenhunt has taken an absence permit for personal reasons. The news occurred a day after the coach of the defenders of DC, Reggie Barlow, took the work of the chief coach in Tennessee State.
The coach of the offensive line of Showboats, Jim Turner, will serve as a chief coach in the absence of Whisenhunt.
“If Ken Whisenhunt is ready to return to the UFL family, we will welcome him with open arms,” said President and CEO of the UFL, Russ Brandon, in a statement. “… We are proud that the UFL is a first family league and respect Ken’s decision to take an absence permit for personal reasons at this time.”
Whisenhunt, a former NFL coach and chief player, joined the UFL of eight teams last fall. The showBoats will receive the Michigan Panthers in the team’s opening game on Sunday (12 pm et, ESPN).
