Ind vs NZ 2024: Polly Inglis, Lauren Unwell in, Rosemary Mair and Leigh Kasperek out of Pristine Zealand women’s team for Republic of India
Hitter Lauren Unwell also joined the 15-member squad closer upon her return from maternity leave in July. The pair’s inclusion is the only exchange with the team that helped Pristine Zealand win its first Women’s T20 Global Cup title.
Of the victorious team, fast bowler Rosemary Mair has been rested, mindful of managing her workload following her recovery from serious back trauma, although off-spinner Leigh Kasperek has not been noticed.

The core of the T20 World Cup-winning group, along with the senior trio of Sophie Devine, Suzie Bates and Lea Tahuhu are part of the traveling celebration. Devine will continue to dominate them in the ODIs following her decision to take ill as T20I captain closer to the World Cup.

Inglis’s strong performances in local cricket first helped her earn security and a closer place in the national team. He scored 324 runs, the second most in the 2023-24 Hallyburton Johnstone Safeguard, the 50-over festival, with an average of 54 and a hazard rate of 80, largely batting in the middle order. He also scored 103 in the line of three one-day matches between Pristine Zealand A and England A which they won 2-1.

“We are very excited to present Polly on her first tour,” said Ben Sawyer in a NZC commentary. “She put her hand up in last season’s Hallyburton Johnstone Shield one-day competition and throughout New Zealand’s A series against England, so it’s a great next step for her.

“Trip to the Republic of India is one of the highlights of international cricket. It’s a special playground to return to and I know everyone is looking forward to the challenge ahead.”

The three ODIs, which will be played in Ahmedabad, are part of the Women’s Championship. New Zealand are currently sixth in the table and will be followed by a three-match series against Australia. The top five teams plus hosts India qualify directly for the Women’s ODI World Cup next year.
