Improved Alan Wake 2 PS5 Pro tag will see a 30fps attribute mode, with additional ray tracing

The explanation has evoked what the PS5 Pro Enhanced label will apply to Alan Wake 2.

As a reminder, when the PS5 Pro was presented at the last minute, Sony made no secret that many games will receive an “enhanced” label. This way, the game will be able to take full advantage of the console’s advanced features, such as complex ray tracing and a GPU that allows up to 45 percent faster rendering, thanks to a free software update.

Alan Wake 2 will be one of those games, and Treatment recently explained how the game’s performance and attribute systems will be updated for the PlayStation 5 Pro.

The feature form will see 30 frames per second with ray tracing (which is not available on the base PS5 model) and a 4K output resolution. This can sometimes allow ray-traced reflections on light and unclear surfaces.

Performance Form, meanwhile, won’t have ray tracing, but will feature 60 frames per second and a 4K output resolution. It will use roughly the same rendering settings (symbol function) as the PS5 base attribute method.

“The PS5 Pro’s Performance Mode features significantly higher output resolution and has more visual details compared to the base PS5,” Treatment defined. “Overall image stability, fog, volumetric lighting and shadow accuracy have been improved on the Pro.”

The treatment was stated because Alan Wake 2 was so “incredibly detailed and rich” visually that it was often “difficult for ray tracing, especially compared to our previous game, Control.” However, the studio attempted to address the issue and the updated hardware offered by the PS5 Pro made it all too much.

“With ray tracing effects, the details of the world in Alan Wake 2 can be observed more accurately than before on the console, and the image is more stable in complex lighting situations,” the staff wrote.

“We’ve always wanted to bring cutting-edge visuals to our games, but everything is always a balancing act between frame rate, visual quality, technical and hardware limitations, development resources and what we want to achieve artistically with the game “.

The study highlighted many of the environmental benefits of Alan Wake 2 thanks to ray tracing, but “it comes at a cost.”

Treatment mentioned: “Each ray must be traced and its incidence evaluated and shaded. Due to the nature of ray tracing, some rays must be traced to achieve noise-free images. Unfortunately, tracing and shading some rays based on Pixelate is usually too expensive. We should be able to work with bustling images equipped with low pattern counts, which means we should remove noise by denoising. In terms of efficiency, sports engines like our own Northlight typically rely on using small pattern counts. and noise elimination.

“In a game like Alan Wake 2, its complex light-material interactions and rich environments can make the tracing, shading, and denoising of even a single ray tracing effect too expensive to justify the cost depending on the game. hardware”.

The treatment described Alan Wake 2 as a geometrically “very dense” sport. “Using a GPU-driven rendering process and its detailed curation with GPU-executed skinning made it possible to create densely populated forest scenes with layers and layers of foliage and trees found during the Saga gameplay segments that take place. in lush environments of the Pacific Northwest,” he said.

“While shading the main camera view can effectively eliminate most of the unnecessary work, uncompromising ray tracing must build an acceleration structure using a large portion of the objects in the scene, since ray tracing rays goes beyond the limits of screen space information. The Pro’s improved hardware made it possible to build acceleration structure for more densely populated scenes, which was the main limitation before.”

In addition to the latest PS5 Pro news, Treatment may be about to release its second expansion for Alan Wake 2, called The Pond Area.

The upcoming expansion will be another slice of horror, with a new playable personality and a new enemy type. Everything is scheduled to be reduced the next day, October twenty-second.
