The International Foundation of the Association of game Developers (IGDA-F) has welcomed Shannon Loftis as the new president of its Board of Directors.
Loftis replaces Ed Fries, who leaves his director’s position after two years, but remains on the board.
Loftis contributes “more than 30 years in the development of games and a commitment to inclusion” in Microsoft that “will allow the Foundation to promote its diversity, equity and inclusion objectives for developers worldwide.”
“I am delighted and honored to lead this board, and work closely with the Foundation and the IGDA,” Loftis said.
“The IGDA Foundation is one of the most inclusive, intersectional organizations, globally related to games development and I think our mission is more crucial today than ever.”
“I have worked with Shannon since our days in Microsoft; it is an excellent leader whose background and industry experience makes it perfect to assume the role of the chair,” added Ed Fries, former chair. “I am sure that the IGDA Foundation will remain faithful to its values under its guide.”
Although connected, the IGDA-F is a separate entity of IGDA itself and is a charitable organization that serves developers of underrepresented and marginalized games worldwide through professional development programs, tutorials, scholarships and games traffic jams.
Last year, the International Association of game Developers challenged the United States Patent and Brands Office after a new requirement for housing addresses to be included during the registration of registered trademarks.
