1st quarter report
The last time the Nets and Magic met, the game was decided by 23 points, but it sure doesn’t look like the final score will be so lopsided this time. After one quarter, neither team has the game in the bag, but the Nets lead the Magic 29-26.
The Nets came into the contest with extra motivation after the loss they suffered the last time these two teams met. We’ll see if they are able to turn the script around or if it will simply be more of the same.

What to know
The Nets will be in front of their home fans on Sunday, but a look at the layout shows they might need that home-field advantage. They will host the Orlando Magic at 3:30 pm ET at the Barclays Center. The Nets may want some stickiness for this one, as the team had 20 turnovers on Friday.
The Nets will likely come into the game with a grudge considering the Magic just ended the team’s three-game winning streak on Friday. They ended up on the wrong end of a resounding 123-100 beating at the hands of Orlando. Brooklyn has struggled against Orlando recently, as the game was their fourth straight loss.
The Magic can attribute much of their success to Franz Wagner, who was 12 of 20 en route to 29 points plus eight assists and eight rebounds, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who was 7 of 8 en route to 19 points plus two steals. The dominant performance also gave Caldwell-Pope a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (80%).
The Magic worked as a unit and finished the game with 29 assists. They easily outscored their opponents in that department, as the Nets only recorded 22.
Brooklyn’s loss dropped their record to 9-11. As for Orlando, the win was their fifth in a row, bringing their record this year to 14-7.
Keep an eye on the goal in Sunday’s game: the Nets have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 39.2% of their three-pointers per game. However, it’s a different story for the Magic, as they have only made 31.9% of their three-pointers this season. Given the Nets’ considerable advantage in that area, the Magic will need to find a way to close that gap.
