STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl already became profitable before its release, according to Maksym Kryppa in a recent Forbes interview.
The game is available for PC and Xbox Series S|X and debuted on Xbox game Pass at launch. Despite being accessible to Xbox game Pass subscribers, it also performed well on Steam, probably accounting for the majority of its sales.
Kryppa revealed future plans for the game, including two expansions and a multiplayer mode to further enhance the STALKER experience. Additionally, the developer is working on ports for other platforms to reach a wider audience. While specific details about these updates have yet to be revealed, fans can expect new and interesting content after launch.
Additionally, Kryppa discussed the possibility of bringing the STALKER universe to the screen, with talks underway with Netflix for a possible adaptation. Although no deals have been finalized, this could open a new chapter for the franchise, introducing its post-apocalyptic world to a wider audience.
STALKER 2 is confirmed as a timed console exclusive, suggesting that availability on other platforms, including the PS5, will follow once the exclusivity period ends.
Since the game‘s release, the developers have addressed many complaints and issues through post-launch updates. The game continues to perform well on Steam, based on concurrent player count, and remains one of the most played games on Xbox.
