Hampshire Alinee to Mark Stoneman as cover of the County Championship for James Vince

Hampshire is expected to firm Mark Stoneman for the 2025 County Championship season in an attempt to cover the loss of James Vince, who is moving away from first -class cricket this year.
Stoneman has been without a county since he left Middlesex at the end of last summer. The 37 -year -old would add experience to a well -greased domestic side that ended second in division one the last term, but Vince has left short to leave the red ball cryket this summer, a partially made decision to work around the new ECB position on non -objection certificates (NO) and protects your contract to play in the PSL.

Vince had captained Hampshire in all formats for almost a decade, and will be replaced by Wicktkeeper Ben Brown batter taking the reins in the championship. However, the loss of Vince as one of the most prolific batters of the club, best score last season with 986 races to an average of 49.30, has put responsibility in bringing reinforcements to the Bowl quickly uses with the start of the English national season Only two months away.

Stoneman is a reliable opening batter that has 14,448 first -class races at an average of 34.23, with 31 centuries. The left-hander arrived through the ranks in Durham, playing in three winning teams of the championship in Chester-Le-Street, and captained its success of the one-day cup in 2014, before moving to the Kia Oval for the 2017 season. Subsequently He played a key role in the success of the Surrey title in 2018, the first since 2002.

It was while in Surrey that Stoneman obtained 11 test limits for England, which included the 2017-18 ashes, passing fifty five times without reaching three figures. A transfer to Middlesex arrived in mid -2021 (initially on loan) in a three -year contract, which the club finally decided not to renew.

It is likely that Hampshire does more business, with the signature of the impressive Southern Southern Southern South Wales, Jack Edwards, it is expected to be announced at the end of this week. Edwards, at the time of writing, has 23 WICKETS and 376 races in the ongoing Sheffield Shield season, and would help fill the void left by Pakistan’s sailor Mohammed Abbas, who has joined Nottinghamshire. Hampshire explained that Abbas’s release was due to the need to “rebalance” his squad in the absence of Vince.
