Supergiant Games has confirmed that it has not recast to any actor for Hades 2, after the accusations of the Athena voice actor, the study is not willing to use the SAG-AFTRA provisional agreement.
The US actors union. UU. It is currently on strike due to concerns about the use of AI in the games industry, but there is a provisional agreement to ensure that the work of action can still continue until a Complete agreement.
Marin Miller, La Voz behind Athena in Hades and Hades 2, accused Supergiant of re -rejected the character because the study “refused to turn to an interim.”
“You may listen to me to refuse in a particular game that is very popular,” they wrote on social networks. “If I am, it was not because I moved away from the character voluntarily. It’s because the employer refused to turn an interim.”
And although they did not explicitly mention Supergiant, their follow -up publication was not subtle: “It would be very useful if you wrote a giant email asking them to turn to their actors.”

Supergiant has responded with a long statement, confirming that the characters have not annoyed again, but pointed out that their games have not been subject to SAG-AFTRA contracts “for a variety of reasons.”
“Voice talent has been an integral part of each of our games,” the statement begins. “Recently, questions arose here about how we worked with our voice talent, which we want to address.”
Supergiant boasts that it offers “the strongest protections in the industry to our talent, since we believe that your work is irreplaceable.”
It continues: “Our games are made intentionally by human beings; a generative AI is not being used in the creation of the voiceover, works of art or any other content that enters them.
“We have not put any of our characters again in Hades 2, and we want to continue working with each and every members of our wonderful cast.
“We have respected and we will continue to respect any actor who needs to stop work during the SAG-AFTRA video game strike. Although none of our games have been subject to SAG-AFTRA contracts for a variety of reasons, we want SAG-AFTRA LO better in their negotiations to force the largest signatory studies to provide the types of protections that we believe that the actors deserve. “
It is not clear what are the reasons for not using SAG-AFTRA contracts, although many of the voice actors of Hades 2 are internal or British personal (Ben Starr of Final Fantasy 16, Colin Ryan of Final Fantasy 14, Amelia Tyler of Baldur’s Gate 3) and, therefore, is not part of the United States union. Or maybe the study believes that its own protections are sufficient.

In a monitoring thread, Miller emphasized his SAG-AFTRA dependence for protection, pointing out that this is the seventh month of the strike. “The SAG -Aftra contracts are protected by their legal staff: I cannot pay a lawyer without the union,” they wrote.
“Customers keep asking me: ‘If we include a no-Ai rider, will it work without union or in a 2020 agreement?’ Will you be willing to cover the costs of my legal fees if you violate my agreement?
The SAG-AFTRA strike began in July last year, with the use of AI the main concern of the Union.
“We are not going to consent to a contract that allows companies to abuse AI to the detriment of our members,” said SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher, in a statement. “Enough is enough. When these companies take the offer of an agreement that our members can live and work, we will be here, ready to negotiate.”
Audrey Cooling, a spokesman for video game producers who have signed the existing interactive media agreement, replied: “We have already found a common land in 24 of 25 proposals, including increases in historical wages and additional security provisions. Our offer responds directly to the concerns of SAG-AFTRA and extend the significant AI protections that include requiring consent and fair compensation to all artists that work under the IMA. “
At the beginning of the year, Eurogamer spoke with the famous voice actor Jennifer Hale (Mass Effecta, Bayonetta 3) about the strike and why it is taking so long to reach a resolution.
“It’s a big problem for all of us and repercussions are huge,” she says. “So, for me, it makes sense that everyone needs to take their time. Like artists, and we saw this in the writing strike and the theatrical contract strike, we are only the Canary in the coal mine.”
The news follows the second important update of Hades 2 revealed yesterday, since the game is still in early access, without a complete release date.
