Source code for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is reportedly circulating online. Prominent figures in the gaming community on Twitter have noted that the leaked file appears to contain authentic files, but is currently password protected.
gaming researcher Vadim M. highlighted the situation and warned fans not to fall for scams. He tweeted: “It appears GTA SA source code is circulating online, but the file is password protected.” Vadim warned users not to purchase the password if someone offers to sell it, and advised them to be patient and cautious as the situation develops.
The news gained traction when the popular GTA videotech influencer commented. Videotechnology tweeted“It appears that the source code for GTA: San Andreas appeared online this morning, but the file is password protected.” The tweet also revealed that the ZIP file supposedly contains a “FileList.txt,” lending credibility to the leak.
This is the second major leak in two weeks, raising concerns about the security of Rockstar Games’ legacy game files. Videotech noted that the structure of the ZIP file suggests the leak is genuine, but admitted uncertainty about its origins. “I’m not sure if it’s from the same person who had the design documents, but we’ll see,” the influencer added.
Rockstar Games has yet to release an official statement regarding the recent leak. The company has experienced several leaks lately, the most notable being the Grand Theft Auto VI leak. A hacker reportedly accessed its servers and obtained videos that appeared to show an older version of GTA VI, even before Rockstar Games made any official announcement about the game.
GTA VI is currently one of the most anticipated games of the year. It is confirmed to be released in 2025, but as Rockstar Games has not provided any updates, including additional images or trailers after the initial reveal, the release date remains uncertain. The game is intended for PS5 and Xbox Series S|X.
