Grace Harris joins Surrey Women for Vitality Blast


Australia International Grace Harris has signed an agreement with Surrey to play in the explosion of vitality of inaugural women.

The Allrounder’s batting, which has represented its country 62 times in Limited Overs Internationals, becomes the first foreign player in Surrey, and the first direct in the new professional era of the cricket of Women County in England and Wales.

The summer of 2025 will be the first time that all counties of men and women will play one next to the other in the explosion of vitality. Harris’s first game will be the first Surrey woman match against Hampshire Hawks in the Kia Oval on June 5, as part of the double header along with the equivalent men accessory.

Harris is known for her great and cunning Giro, skills that have made her a basic element in several franchise tournaments. In addition to appearing prominently for his local team Brisbane Heat in The Women’s Big Bash, the Queenslander recently ended the WPL as Warriorz’s highest runner, and is part of London Spirit in The Hundred. It also appeared in the three T20i that formed the ashes for winter women, helping Australia to consign England to a 16-0 defeat.

“I can’t wait to take the field with the Surrey and Kia Oval team,” said Harris, in a statement published Wednesday. “The club has shown a strong commitment to the women’s side and I know that the team has been preparing hard during the winter. I really want to contribute to the team and make the most of my time with them.”

Emma Calvert, director of Women’s cricket at Surrey, added: “We are incredibly excited to announce Grace as our first firm abroad for our newly professional Surrey Women’s Team.

“Grace brings international experience and franchises that we believe will really add value to our squad both inside and outside the field. She plays exactly the crystary style that we seek to play and I can’t wait to see her using the three feathers in the Kia Oval this summer.”

Surrey will play in the best league of the women’s vitality explosion, along with the other seven level one counties. The eight sides will play each other at home and far in 14 games in the group stage, with the first three ensuring a place on the Day of the Finals, which will take place in the Kia Oval on July 27.
