Glasgow City V Celtic: The race for the swop title offers drama again

City was leveled in points with Celtic last season when the league separated, but finished the nine points drifting and without a trophy.

Ross, who took City to its title 16 of the League two seasons ago to add its 27 trophies as a player with the club, will be desperate to learn those lessons.

His defense has been imperative this season, granting only eight goals and maintaining 14 clean sheets in 20 SWPL games.

That made it even more surprising when Hibernian scored three goals in the first half against them at the end of January to obtain a 3-1 victory.

It was the first defeat of the city in the SWPL since August against Celtic, which continued with an undefeated race of 16 games.

Ross’s side returned to the horse with a blow of Montrose 8-0 last time, as well as the victory over Celtic, so they seem to have ruled out that loss.

His record against the first five in the league is decent, taking 11 points of a possible 21, the best set with Hibs, and they have won the 10 games at home this term.

Everything points to a confident team, and scattered with experienced players such as Lee Gibson, Hayley Lauder and Joanne Love, who know how to do the job by having won multiple titles.

They will know as well as anyone that the confrontation with Celtic will be far from decisive when it comes to the SWPL title, but winning it to go at least two points in clear could be a great psychological impulse for any of the sides.
