Only a few weeks after saying goodbye to the “majority” of his staff, the developer Phoenix Labs has announced that he is closing his Monster Hunter Monster Style Action game, Dauntless.
The rapid rhythm vision of Dountless of the Monster Hunder formula received a warm reception when it was launched to the early access of PC in May 2018, but fought to maintain that impulse early after a broader launch per year. And his trip is now officially close to its end.
Announcing the closing of Dauuntless’ in a brief message on social networks, Phoenix Labs wrote: “Dauuntless is closing on May 29, 2025. Dauntless will not receive additional content or updates. 2025 at 11.45pm PST.
The confirmation of the death of Dauuntless’ follows several rounds of layoffs in Phoenix Labs, which was acquired by Crypto Company Forte in 2023. Last May, the study announced that it was canceling all the projects that are not Dauuntless and Fae Far Personnel, a movement that is believed to have impacted 140 employees, to “pave a path for a strong future.” Then came the news last month that a “majority” of employees would lose their work in another round of cuts, which the study blamed “unfortunate but necessary changes in our operations.”
At that time, he said he would discuss the future of Dountless and Fae Far “in the coming weeks.” And although Dountless’s destiny is now sealed, Phoenix Labs has not yet shared his plans for FAE Farm.
