Sega and Sports Interactive have discarded the 25 -football manager, and now they will be re -infocated to prepare for the next launch of the series.
This morning’s announcement, made as part of SEGA’s latest financial results, is a surprise movement for the annual sports franchise. But it follows repeated delays for FM25, which had been announced as the greatest leap forward for the series in a generation.
The previous setbacks saw that FM25 was delayed twice, with its most recent postponement, which means that it was scheduled to reach an awkward moment, the half -football season. It would also have meant the need for interactive sports to sell two tickets in the series, FM25 and the expected FM26, within the same calendar year.
Now, FM25 no longer exists, something that Sports Interactive has issued an apology today, and said that anyone who has requested the game would now be reimbursed automatically.
“For the large number of you who preordered FM25, we greatly thank you for your trust and support, I regret to have disappointed,” says a statement from Sports Interactive.
“We know that this will come as a great disappointment, especially since the release date has already moved twice, and you have anxiously anticipated the first revelation of the game.”
As announced above, there will be no update of the most recent entry of the series, FM24, with new player data. This would be a “substantial company” that “would divert critical resources far from the development of the next launch that our full approach requires,” said Sports Interactive today and the FM25 cancellation has not changed this.
Sports Interactive had previously said that it would update fans in January 2025, a deadline that says it was forced to get lost for a week due to the fulfillment of Sega is a company that is quoted in the stock market.
“We can only apologize for the time that this decision has been communicated. Due to the fulfillment of the interested parties, including legal and financial regulations, today was the earliest date that we could issue this statement.”
Sports Interactive blamed the decision of “a variety of challenges that we have been open to date, and many more unforeseen.”
“As we approach the critical milestones in the change of the year, it was unequivocally clear that we would not reach the required standard, even with the adjusted timeline,” the statement continues.
“While many areas of the game have achieved our objectives, the experience and interface of the general player is where we need to be. As has demonstrated a wide evaluation, including the consumer game test, we have a clear validation for the new address of the game and are closing, however, we are too far from the standards you deserve.
“We could have presented, launched FM25 in its current state and we fixed things in the future, but that is not the right thing. We were not willing to go beyond a March launch, since it would be too late in the waiting football season That players buy another game later in the year.
“Through cancellation, each effort now focuses on ensuring that our next launch achieves our goal and reaches the level of quality that we all expect. We will update it on how we are progressing with that as soon as we can do it.
“Thank you for reading, your patience and continuous support. Our full approach now creates a new era for the football manager.”
Last year, Chris Tapsell de Eurogamer sat down with the sports chief Miles Jacobson for a deep conversation in the studio plans for the future of the football franchise, and knowing why “FM25 is not a continuation of FM24 ” The chat covers the discussion about the state of the game, AI and the Premier League, in addition to details about why some characteristics of the past football manager had to go.
