Final Fantasy veterans have released a new theme… at a wrestling event

AEW wrestler Kenny Omega has released a new theme song from the composer of Final Fantasy 14 and 16, featuring Nobuo Uematsu.

Omega returned to the ring this weekend during Wrestle Dynasty, which takes place at the Tokyo Dome in Japan. Omega announced that it has commissioned a new theme song from Masayoshi Soken, who composed the music for Final Fantasy 14 and Final Fantasy 16.

Jason Miller, a veteran voice actor with hundreds of video game credits, provided the vocals for the new song. Nobuo Uematsu also provided a “special voice,” according to Omega.

Omega is a big fan of the Final Fantasy series and has incorporated elements of the franchise into his wrestling career over the years. His finishing move is called One Winged Angel, and during his entrance at Wrestle Kingdom 17, he entered a rearrangement of Sephiroth’s theme from Final Fantasy 7.

Composer Masayoshi Soken recently told VGC that his favorite video game soundtrack of the year was Nobuo Uematsu’s Fantasian: Neo Dimension.

“I’m the kind of person who listens to a wide range of genres without any particular limits, with rock, bossa nova and classical music as mainstays, but lately I’ve been listening to less and less game soundtracks,” Soken said. .

“Huh? I think I wrote that sentence last year too… It seems like a year has passed in the blink of an eye… Despite this, there is one game title that made me think ‘I should listen to the soundtrack of this game carefully.’ That’s FANTASY.”
