Relic Entertainment, the study behind the company of Heroes and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, has outlined its future plans as an independent study, including a greater approach to smaller titles and older games, after its separation from Sega the year the year past.
Relic was founded in 1997, becoming known for his work in the real -time strategy genre as the years passed. In 2013, the study was acquired by Sega, but the companies last year announced that they would separate, and Relic became independent once again.
Since then, Relic has suffered a period of personnel reduction, dismissing 41 employees last year (a measure that followed a large round of layoffs in 2023), but now the study has resurfaced discussing its future plans, announcing a vision ” Bold “that will see it focusing on three key areas.
Part of the new study strategy will see that ‘actively pursues’ the development of the “smaller internal games, together with the largest and most complex strategy titles for which it is known, all to” explore new genres and game experiences ” .
It also intends to ‘reimagine the classics’, through the tastes of relaunch, remassers and “experiences of new franchises that capture the spirit of the originals while attracting a new generation of players.” That is together with the third Relic approach: a “deepening commitment” and “robust support” for its existing titles, starting with Company of Heroes 3.
The study has already announced a new update and a new DLC for Company of Heroes 3, both launching this month. Fire & Steel, as the DLC is known, promises four new battle groups for multiplayer and cooperative/skirmish against AI. There is the Battle Group of Heavy Weapons (US forces), the terrorist battle group (Wehrmacht), the Canadian shock battle group (British forces) and the Battle Group of Panzerjäger Kommand (Afrikakorps), with more details that are They reveal closer to liberation.
