A year after he debuted at Epic Games Store in March 2024, the free version of Dark and Darker has been eliminated again.
The Ironmace developer states that the game has been withdrawn due to its continuous legal dispute of copyright with the Nexon Games.
Both editions of the game, darkness and free darkness, and the dark and darker: the legendary state, remain in Steam. The latter is also available in the epic game store.
“Epic Games has decided to eliminate dark and dark from the epic game store,” Ironsmace told the players through Discord (thanks, PCGN).
“The decision seems to be based on claims made by the opposite parties in an current legal dispute. We are currently working to understand the exact reasoning behind this elimination.
“It seems that the elimination process is not completely complete, since already dark and dark it is no longer listed, but dark and darker: the legendary state is still available for purchase. Take into account this possible confusion.
“In preparation for the possibility that Dark and Darker are no longer playable in epic games, we are working on alternative solutions to ensure that players can continue enjoying the game,” Ironmace concluded, before apologizing for any “inconvenience” caused and promised to share more details as soon as possible.
Dark and Darker threw himself in Steam in February 2023, but was excluded after Nexon claimed that the game began as his own P3 prototype project. Ironmace is composed of former Nexon employees, and Nexon claimed that the “stolen” equipment and assets were used by the equipment to be darker and darker.
In March 2023, Ironmace was raided by the Korean police who confiscated material related to Dark and Darker, but in January 2024, a South Korean court dismissed Nexon’s preliminary court order against Ironmace.
