The outstanding passes corridor of Los Vegas Raiders, Maxx Crosby, has been appointed general manager of the East Michigan football program, the University announced Monday.
Crosby is the first active NFL player to maintain the position. It will help Eastern Michigan evaluate the prospects of high school and the portal, manage its null budget and will also serve as a special assistant to collection of funds, relations with alumni and the support of athletes students.
“There is no more important place for my personal and athletic development than east of the University of Michigan,” Crosby said in a statement published by the school. “It really is an honor for me not only being appointed GM Assistant of the EMU, but together with my wife Rachel, making another donation aimed at creating opportunities for other athletes to be impacted by the EMA, community, students and alumni program.”
Crosby is one of the best defensive players who have ever left East Michigan. In three seasons, he established the program record with 20 career captures, and his 41 cups for loss are the third most in the history of the school.
Crosby, a fourth round selection in 2019, has registered 59.5 captures in six seasons with the Raiders. It was rewarded by the Raiders this low season, signing an extension of the contract of three years and $ 106.5 million in March.
In addition to his role as EMU Assistant General Manager, Crosby also launched the “Maxx Match”, which is a fundraising challenge in which he will personally coincide with all donations with the football program of eastern Michigan, up to $ 100,000, held before the end of May.
In 2023, Crosby and his wife Rachel donated $ 1 million to the football program.
“The return of Maxx Crosby to EMU in this leadership role is a transformative moment for our football program,” said Athletics Director Scott Wetherbee in the statement. “His passion, vision and generosity are inspiring, and the Maxx party is a powerful example of that … with him on board, we are building a better soccer program and a stronger future for the athletics of EMU.”
While Crosby is the first NFL player to take administrative work with an NCAA team, he is not the only athlete. The Golden State Warriors star, Stephen Curry, became the assistant general manager of Davidson College, his alma mater, last month.
