Despite “acting in line with expectations”, net reserves for Apex legends decreased year after year during the third quarter of Electronic Arts Fy25.
The EA CEO, Andrew Wilson, reflected on the future of the franchise during the questions and answers of earnings calls, where he presented the company’s plan to implement changes to improve Apex legends, including the idea of ’Apex 2.0 ‘.
During the second trimester of EA, Wilson backed up against the idea of an Apex 2.0 to fix the franchise, but now he has revealed that he is in the pipe.
“The business trajectory of that franchise has not been directed in the direction we have wanted for some time,” he explained. “We continue to test and develop more and excellent content for that community. And I would say that we have seen some progress in that, but probably not as much as we would have liked.
“We believe there will be a time when we need to make a more significant update of Apex as a wide game experience, and the team is working diligently on that. You must imagine that we will probably not drop it at the top of a battlefield launch [which is slated for 2026]. And so from the point of view of synchronization, our thinking at this time would exist after the battlefield. “
Wilson continued: “On a long -term horizon, these franchises that exist at this level and have this love of fans who do not often come. What I think we have demonstrated as a company is an ability to build franchises that last 10, 20 , 30 years.
Our expectation is that Apex will also be one of those franchises, and that at some point on the horizon, there will be an even bigger and more significant update of that broader game experience: an Apex 2.0 if you wish. This will not be the final incarnation of Apex. “
EA registered decreases in net income and reserves for its third quarter, which Wilson described as “not the financial performance we wanted or expected.” This was mainly due to the “low temporary performance” of EA Sports FC 25.
