Destiny 2 Season Pass Price Increase

Destiny 2 players were recently hit with a surprising announcement: the price of the game’s season passes is set to increase starting with Season 21, or Season of the Deep.

The cost of the Destiny 2 standard season pass has increased from 1,000 Silver to 1,200 Silver. This means that players will need to purchase two Silver bundles instead of one to acquire the season pass. The Season Pass plus 10 ranks bundle will also increase in price from 2,000 Silver to 2,200 Silver.

Compare the prices of 500 and 1,100 Silver, which are currently $4.99 and £4.79, respectively, to better understand what this means in real money.

Bungie stated in a blog post that this increase is a result of their teams investing in crafting compelling seasonal experiences for the upcoming year of Lightfall. They also mentioned that they will be evaluating new approaches to post-launch content in the year of The Final Shape.

This means that the price increase is aimed at supporting the development of high-quality seasonal content. Although some players might find this surprising, it’s important to keep in mind that game development is an expensive and time-consuming process.

Despite the price increase, Bungie assures players that pricing will remain unchanged for the Lightfall standard edition (which includes access to the current live Season at the time of purchase) and Lightfall + Annual Pass edition (which includes access to Seasons 20-23).

The premiere of Season of the Deep is scheduled for May 23 at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET/6 p.m. BST. In the same blog post announcing the price increase, Bungie also provided details on the upcoming season.

First, they revealed the key art image for Season of the Deep. Players can see in this image what they can anticipate from the season, which includes new enemies, weapons, and other things.

Bungie also provided details on three new Strand Aspects that will be coming to the game, which will allow players to customize their gameplay experience even further. The blog post also mentions upcoming quality of life improvements and adjustments to the in-game economy.

Although the price increase may surprise some players, it’s important to keep in mind that Bungie is committed to offering the best gameplay experiences. With their continued investment in crafting high-quality seasonal content, the increase in price for the season pass may be worth it for avid players looking to maximize their rewards each season.

While some players may find the price increase for the Destiny 2 season pass to be discouraging, it’s important to remember that the increase is intended to support the creation of premium seasonal content. With the upcoming Season of the Deep set to launch soon, players can look forward to new enemies, weapons, and more.
