For years, players around the world have accumulated goals with Cristiano Ronaldo in their favorite football video game franchises, celebrating with their iconic “Siu” in virtual releases.
But now, the five -time Ballon D’Or winner is entering a very different type of battle.
Instead of knitting defenders and destroying free throws, players can control Ronaldo in a fighting game, facing experienced warriors in the virtual world.
The Portuguese superstar has been announced as a playable character in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, an upcoming fighting game that will be launched next month.
Ronaldo is one of the 15 playable characters in the game, developed by the Japanese SNK video game company.
The Fatal Fury franchise was launched in 1991 and was one of the pioneers in the genre of the fighting game that gained popularity in the 1990s.
The game trailer shows the former Manchester United star and Real Madrid with a number seven shirt and a captain’s bracelet, using a burning blue football to launch attacks on his opponent before enacting his exclusive celebration.
The original Fatal Fury game produced 11 sequelae, the last of which was launched in 1999.
City of the Wolves will be the first new game of the series in 26 years when it opened on April 24.
Capulated 219 times for Portugal, Ronaldo’s page describes him as “one of the best soccer players in the world.”
The game’s website adds: “Use your free time to visit South Town to improve its new soccer skills. The various techniques you have developed by playing football makes it an unstoppable force, even for experienced fighters.”
The captain of Portugal, who plays for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, previously appeared in the 2015 Ronaldo & Hugo mobile runner game: Superstar Skaters.
Fatal Fury SK developers are majority of the Misk Foundation, established by Saudi Prince Mohammed Bin Salman in 2011.
