Frisco, Texas – With Brian Schottenheimer in his place as chief coach of the Dallas Cowboys, the organization has locked a key piece of its main office, accepting an extension of several years with the vice president of players staff Will McClay, announced the team on Wednesday.
McClay is the greatest rank member of the main office outside the Jones family.
He has directed the Cowboys personnel department since 2014 and has played a role in bringing 15 Pro Bowl players through the Draft, the largest amount of the League at that time. Six players have been named First-Team All Pro, who is tied for most with the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens.
The McClay contract would expire after the draft, and the teams had asked about their services for the general manager’s works, but has chosen to remain with the cowboys.
He has been with the organization since 2002 when he trained the masters of the Soccer League of the Arena de Dallas and also served as a professional explorer. It became the Pro Scouting coordinator in 2009 and Football Research Director in 2011.
In 2014, he assumed the Draft process and immediately hit the right guard Zack Martin, who has been selected for nine Pro Bowls, in the first round and the Demarcus Lawrence defensive wing, a four times Pro Bowler, in the second round.
They were the first of the 15 players to be recruited by the cowboys and make at least one Pro Bowl. The corner Byron Jones, the corridor Ezekiel Elliott, the supporter Jaylon Smith, the field marshal Dak Prescott, the supporter Leighton Vander Eger, the corridor Tony Pollard, the open receiver Ceedee Lamb, the corner Trevon Diggs, the Tyler Biasz center, the Rusher Micah Parsons, Guard Tyler Smith, adjusted the end Jake Ferguson and corner Daron Bland are the others.
Two free streets signed from the USFL, Returizer Kavantae Turpin and Pateador Brandon Aubrey, have also made the Pro Bowl.
The general owner and manager Jerry Jones is the last decision maker of the cowboys, but McClay works closely collaborative with the executive vice president Stephen Jones to establish the address with respect to the staff with drafts and free agencies.
