Chris Dehring appointed new CEO of Cricket West Indies


Chris Dehring, general manager and CEO of the 2007 ODI World Cup in the Caribbean, has been appointed as the new CEO of cricket West Indies (CWI). He replaces Johnny Grave, who resigned from the position in October.

A statement from the CIT said Dehring had been selected from a “competitive pool of more than 50 applicants representing Europe, Australia, Afghanistan, India and the Caribbean.”

“Consistent with the priority of recruiting exceptional leadership to drive our mission, Chris Dehring represents the best of the best – an innovator, strategist, business magnate and passionate supporter of West Indies cricket,” said CWI President Kishore Shallow. . “His return as West Indies cricket executive marks the beginning of an exciting new era as we work to regain our position as a dominant force in world cricket.”

Dehring has extensive experience in finance, sports management, media and telecommunications. During the 2007 ODI World Cup, he oversaw the construction of ten new international standard stadiums in the West Indies. He is also the founder of SportsMax, the Caribbean sports broadcaster, as well as co-founder of the Jamaican investment bank Dehring, Bunting & Golding. He also served as a senior executive at Cable & Wireless.

“West Indies cricket has always had a special place in my heart,” Dehring said. “As a unifying force and symbol of pride for our region, I am honored to return to an organization that matters so much to our people. Together with the CWI team and stakeholders, I am committed to driving innovation, nurturing talent and to reignite the passion for West Indies cricket, both domestically and globally.”

Dehring will officially begin his term on February 1, 2025.
