It is unlikely that Cameron Green plays any Sheffield Shield
cricket before his County Championship period with Gloudestershire while continuing to recover from back surgery.
Speaking at the Australian
cricket Awards last month, Green had marked that his recovery was on his way to having him available for the Western Australian Final Shield match against Victoria on March 15 only as a batter. But despite returning to the Nets and hitting the balls regularly in recent weeks, EsSncricinfo understands that it is unlikely to be authorized to play before the end of the Australian national summer. WA does not expect you to be available for the contest with victory or the final of the shield if they qualify.
Green has to obtain regular scans on his back to verify his progress before playing again, having undergone column surgery in October. It is likely that Green’s first game is in division two of the Glouceshire County Championship against Kent in Canterbury on April 18.
Green has signed a five -game agreement with Gloudeshire thanks to the help of a “significant donation” of one of the club members. Those five games are against Kent (twice), Leítshire, Lancashire and Northambtonshire before the WTC final in Lord’s. However, it remains to be seen if the medical staff of
cricket Australia allows you to play five consecutive first class games that lead to the WTC final that did not leave Crick since September and there is no first -class Crick in 13 months, although it will not be playing in any of them.
Green is in the frame to play in the WTC final in June, since a batter has only played 28 for the tests so that the date is an SUV. Australia also has a three -test tour of the Caribbean from the end of June, but will not be available to play until later in the year in the Home Ashes series that begins at the end of November.
Its availability as a batter will only create a selection exhibition in the Australian alignment. Green did not do 174 not in his second last trial match at number 4, but Steven Smith’s triumphal return to that place means that Green will have to hit elsewhere if he plays in the WTC final against South Africa.
Travis Head will also return to number 5 after opening the most recent tests in Australia in Sri Lanka, which means that Australia will need another first game for the partner Usman Khawaja. Sam Konstas is in the box to return after the selection in Sri Lanka is lost and is anxious to play in the County Championship, but it still does not have an agreement.
Green could possibly hit at number 3 or number 6, but that would displace Marnus Labuschagne or Beau Webster. If the latter was omitted, Australia would leave without a fourth sewing option, although that may not be an important consideration for a unique test in England in June. The recent run-snee of Josh Inglis in all formats makes it an attractive selection perspective for the final as well. Australia does not need to name a team of 15 men until May.
