Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 received a major patch that, along with general fixes to things like stability and progression, also made radical adjustments to its multiplayer weapons.
In a blog post, developer Treyarch stated that it had been monitoring game data along with player feedback since launch to “prepare for a full tune-up pass in Season 01.” You have now introduced these weapon settings in advance.
“We’ve seen the discussions about the relative balance of assault rifles and submachine guns, and we’re making some early general changes to adjust their effective ranges,” the Black Ops 6 team wrote.
“For ARs, we’re getting minimal damage ranges and decreasing the impact of headshots at close range. SMGs are getting damage range increases to improve their effectiveness at medium range.”
The maximum damage range of the XM4 Assault Rifle has been increased from 0 – 7m to 0 – 16.5m. Meanwhile, the Goblin Mk2’s maximum damage range has been increased from 0 – 6.4m to 0 – 39.4m.
As for gear, the team has reduced the duration of the Flashbang Tactical screen effect by 20 percent, which will likely please those players who complained about the effect lasting longer than expected.
On the zombie side, GobbleGum names will now update correctly when switching between level tabs as part of this update.

As a general point, some complained that this update had introduced a bug that caused any equipped optics to be removed when players entered Gunsmith; However, the developer has now fixed this issue.
