Bossa Games has been affected by another round of layoffs, with an unknown number of affected personnel.
In a shared statement to LinkedIn, the co-founder and co-zo Henrique Olifiers said the study had made the decision to “climb” his team after the release of lost skies.
“We have had to make the painful decision to climb again, focusing on the production of lost skies in the late state and its next release, ensuring that the game is launched and evolved successfully for its players in the predictable future,” said Olifiers .
“Once Lost Skies is established and enjoy live operations, we will rehape in small teams that work independently in novel games ideas that are presented to the players as soon as possible.”
He added: “We would like to have found a way of navigating this agitation without resorting to the decision to reduce our teams, but unfortunately we have failed this effort.”
Olifiers referred to the turbulent state of the games industry, and that this had a direct result in the decision.
“The last years have brought a significant amount of interruption to the games industry in general, with treasured studies, equipment and games that are being closed or reduced significantly,” he said.
“We have read all the news, we suffered the changes ourselves or we saw it through the eyes of affected companions and colleagues.”
At the end of 2023, the developer made about a third of his redundant team with 40 remaining employees to work in lost skies.
Olifiers said that the reason for these dismissals was due to the fact that AA and independent games did not receive attention between AAA titles, the increase in operating costs and delayed financing decisions.
