After a record blow to win the competition for his hometown team, Owen, also the best scorer of the league, he can start lifting his eyes. The 23 -year -old is ready to earn amounts of money that change their lives in franchise cryket, potentially starting with a replacement agreement in Indian Premier League.
The Owen manager confirmed to Espncricinfo that he is available as a replacement player for the IPL, having registered for the Long List auction at the end of last year before not making the short list. The Super League of Pakistan, which practically works simultaneously with the IPL in April and May, could be another option for him.
The powerful Owen blow of 108 of only 42 balls, the fastest ton in the history of the competition, of 39 deliveries, made the multitude of sales sing its name and won Hobart its first BBL title.
“I feel a little uncomfortable in these situations. I really don’t know how to take it,” Owen said about worship. “It’s super special … the most special thing is to listen to everyone in the crowd enjoy it. And I am very grateful, I am very proud that we can take this trophy to Tassie.”
Owen had played only six games in the two previous seasons for hurricanes, for a total of 42 races. Previously, a medium order batter, Owen said that a decision that hit the higher order “probably one day, to be honest” from his first tournament match.
“There are not many players in the world who can do that,” Owen’s heroicos told AAP in the final. “He has done it quite consistently through the tournament … some of his 30 and 40 years that he has really won and established games for hurricanes. And then ended up getting one hundred in 30 balls and the game ends.”
The hurricane teammate and the winner of the 2021 T20 World Cup, Matthew Wade, agreed that Owen “would be there or there” when it came to the team team for the 2026 tournament.
“He can be anything … No scenario really worries him too much. It was phenomenal,” Wade told AAP.
Owen said “absolutely” wanted to work towards the team for the tournament housed in India-Sri Lanka, which begins in February 2026.
“No, no. You have the guys that are there right now,” he said. “You can win the stripes … we cannot be only collecting guys and cutting and changing when the boys who are there have won world glasses.”
It will be difficult to go, with Travis Head, Matt Short, Jake Fraser-Mcgurk and Captain T20 Mitch Marsh with claims in those places.
Steven Smith, left out of the disappointing World Cup T20 campaign last year, must also be considered after starring the Sydney Sixers in the last two seasons when he has played as a starter among international tasks.
But Warner was certainly happy to prove Owen with a “phenomenal blow” that meant that his team fell short after publishing 97 without losses after 10 overs.
“A player beat us tonight, simply and plain,” he said.
