Bangladesh 106 and 201 for six (Mehidy 55*, Mahmudul 40, Rabada 4-35) path South Africa 308 through a race
Rabada’s two wickets in the fourth over of the morning gave Bangladesh the lead. Both were trained batsmen of the second generation: Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Mushfiqur Rahim. Mahmudul chased down a fine goal from Rabada, closing in at first slip for 40. He looked uneasy in the cut-back period on the third morning, before playing a no-money shot.
Mushfiqur was explained exactly how he fell in the first innings and how he has fallen several times in his career. Rabada tipped the ball toward him as he played around it, removing an opening between the bat and the habitat. The over between the two innings was when Mushfiqur lost the heart stump only on the third morning, the year Rabada had extended the heart stump in the first innings.
Later, Keshav Maharaj had Litton Das caught at deep back. He made just 7, making it two errors for him in this Test and the next one was just 1 in the first innings. Captain Aiden Markram made a last-second decision to bat, which paid off for the guests as there was seen to be an advantage on the shoulder of Litton’s bat.
The first half hour of the match, however, did not turn into greater luck for South Africa in the course of the consultation. Mehidy’s guard pushes Rabada away and Wiaan Mulder sets up the ball for his partnership with Jaker, before the end, on debut, he sweeps Maharaj for his first boundary in the please. Mehidy made Dane Piedt late for his first six and collided with Maharaj for two fours in the forty-ninth over.
Jaker pinged Piedt through over guard before the pair reached 50 runs for the seventh wicket. Mehidy and Jaker scored a 4 for Rabada on his second charm, the use of the square cut and the snatch, respectively.
