Shake Bangladesh selected to bat vs South Africa

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto decided to bat against South Africa in the first Test, in hidden Dhaka on Monday.

For the hosts, batsman Jaker Ali will make his Check debut, replacing Shakib Al Hasan. The all-rounder was unable to travel to Dhaka from Untouched York before this generation and had to make himself unavailable for what was supposed to be his farewell.
South Africa passed a check cap to batsman and wicketkeeper Matthew Breetzke. They will be without their captain Temba Bavuma, who is out with a bruised elbow. Aiden Markram is the alternate captain.

Each team has four frontline bowlers and Bangladesh goes with spinners Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nayeem Hasan, Taijul Islam and a lone bowler in Hasan Mahmud. South Africa have picked two spinners, Keshav Maharaj and Dane Piedt, and two fast bowlers, Kagiso Rabada and Wiaan Mulder.

Bangladesh is coming off a 2-0 loss to Bharat on Bharat Day. South Africa beat the West Indies 1-0 in a two-match tie.
