Following the critically acclaimed PC release of Baldur’s Gate 3 last month, Larian Studios seems to have repeated the achievement on PS5.

According to aggregation sites Metacritic and OpenCritic, the console version debuted today as the PS5’s highest-rated game to date, with the proviso that only a tiny number of reviews have been released thus far.

Elden Ring (96 based on 85 reviews) and The Witcher 3: Wil Hunt Complete Edition (94 based on 32 reviews) are both behind the PS5 release, which has a Metascore of 97 based on nine reviews.

Aside from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (96 based on 146 reviews) and Baldur’s Gate 3’s PC edition, which both have high Metacritic ratings of 96, this game is currently the highest-rated game of the year.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is now the highest-rated PS5 game on OpenCritic, with a score of 96, ahead of Elden Ring (95) and God of War Ragnarök (94).

Baldur’s Gate 3 for the PlayStation 5 was released on September 2 for Collector’s Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition gamers, ahead of its public release today.

On Monday, Larian announced the game’s latest patch, which includes various updates only for PS5 gamers.

“We’ve fixed graphical issues on HDR TVs, an issue in which game audio on the PS5 stopped working, and a crash that would occur when opening the onscreen keyboard,” the studio added.

Later this year, Baldur’s Gate 3’s Xbox release will make up for the Series S’s loss of split-screen co-op.
