A new handheld console has been officially revealed ahead of CES 2025 with a sleek new trailer and it’s not… not the Nintendo Switch 2. No, it’s a retro blast from the past in a shiny, modern form. The Atari Go! gaming station
Shown in a short, slick trailer, we see the handheld in full screen. It has some parts you’d expect, like triggers and four face buttons, but also a selection of retro hardware like a keyboard and a Trak-Ball. That way, you can play with all kinds of old school classics.

While this may seem like a surprise reveal to many, it’s not the first time we’ve heard about the console. There was an early version of Gamestation Go, then called Gamestation Portable, available for testing at last year’s CES. Atari even sent out 3D printed models of the console to select influencers to pass along the type of package it was working on.
We made a little joke about it at the beginning of this article, but obviously now is an exciting time for the handheld console market. While they don’t appeal to exactly the same market (Obviously, Atari is primarily going after retro fans with the Go), both Gamestation Go and Nintendo Switch 2 speak to a hunger for large handheld consoles that can run different games.
