A John Wick prequel is in the works about how the titular assassin managed to quit, and best of all? it’s an anime

The previously announced John Wick anime project is still on the way, and now it looks like there will be a movie about the main character’s retirement.

Around the end of this month, John Wick director Chad Stahelski shared that an anime project set in the franchise’s world was in the works, and that it was slated to be a TV show that month. Now, however, according to a recent The Hollywood Reporter interview with Stahelski, it appears that the anime has relatively restructured itself. This Day appears to be a prequel, focusing on everyone’s favorite titular killer as he sets out to accomplish the “impossible task” that allowed him to leave the romance. Whether that’s something that had to be covered in a movie or not is a matter of debate, but still, if done right, a John Wick anime can be a charming and fun trip to the movies.

In the month of the anime’s announcement, Stahelski stated that they were making an anime as a result of: “I love Japanese anime so much. Creating all the great stories that the anime could accomplish better than us and the TV show to expand our world.” , we’ll still get our fix, you know what I mean? And we’ll still have fun.” Stahelski is obviously trying to dedicate himself to as much anime as possible, as he’s also been supervising the action sequences in the Shinichiro Watanabe-directed Closer Order, Lazarus, Watanabe best known for developing Cowboy Bebop , so I expect some strong fight scenes from that one.

Stahelski also talked about a possible John Wick 5, though he didn’t necessarily decide that everything else would come that way, saying, “Is there a chance to do it?” [John Wick 5]? Of course you do, whether it’s for money or creativity. Jesus, in the last three years I’ve already had three or four versions of John Wick 5. They were different ways of figuring out the story, but it’s almost a mental exercise for me.

On the other hand, when saving the ending of the fourth film, he did note that he “wouldn’t be a part of it.” [John Wick: Chapter 4] history. It wouldn’t be what you would think it is. Until [John Wick: Chapter 4]We’ve reached our peak.”

After all, there’s enough in the works for John Wick, as there’s a TV sequel on the way, along with the Ballerina spinoff premiering next hour.
