According to a former Nintendo marketer, the company doesn’t “exactly like what’s going on” with these Switch 2 leaks, but its plans are no different.
I can’t remember the last time people got this intense about an unannounced console since, well, probably the original Switch, but even then I don’t think people were as excited as they were with the Switch 2. There have been a lot of rumors and supposed leaks which turn out not to be all that official, if you ask Nintendo, and some have even resorted to tarot readings just to try to figure out when it might release. Obviously we still don’t know how much all the leaks have shown, but Nintendo’s former director of social media and original content marketing, Kit Ellis, has shared how he thinks this could have affected Nintendo’s plans – or rather, how it didn’t. , in a new Patreon video (thanks, GamesRadar).

“Something we always try to convey is Nintendo’s value of the long-term plan rather than a short-term opportunity, and that they changed their date to announce the Switch. [2] “Now, that’s reacting to something that’s happening in the short term,” Ellis said. “A good question is: Will what’s happening now affect the next seven years of the Switch 2, or how many years that generation is? And I think if you look at it, no, it probably won’t.
“It’s not a good time for them now, it’s an awkward time for them now, they don’t like what’s going on, but once they announce this, and they show games, and they’re off to the races, and they’re sharing their information. .. a lot of this will be in the rearview mirror.” Ellis also noted that “the most important thing” for Nintendo above all else right now is that no games have leaked yet. Obviously, that’s the most important thing, because hardware today is just incremental improvements more than anything else. However, it would be nice to have a reveal soon.
