Starfield had over 230,000 concurrent players in its first two hours on Steam, in spite of being in early access.

According to SteamDB, the game peaked at 234,502 concurrent players on August 31 at 10 p.m. ET (September 1 at 3 a.m. BST), just a few hours after its release.

Even though the game doesn’t officially launch until September 6, this was the sixth-highest peak concurrent user count on Steam in the previous 24 hours.

While everyone else must wait until the game’s official release date, players who purchase Starfield’s Premium Edition or Constellation Edition get up to five days of early access to the game.

The Xbox Series X and PC versions of the game currently have Metacritic scores of 87 and 88, respectively, reflecting the game’s largely positive critical reception.
